Next-gen consoles can play with the next-gen game and NBA 2K21 MT also the game. For instance, you can play MyLeague and MyTeam on next-gen but play MyCareer on current-gen with friends who do not update, along with your VC earnings would be in the pocket. Current-gen consoles can only play the game that is current-gen. It is like they are trying to take themselves. Its not totally free cuz its gonna be a game. I get its messed up, but this is how it had been with 2K14 from xbox 360 - xbox one or ps3 - ps4.
